When I was a child, I used to draw from time to time whatever sprung out of my imagination on a piece of paper, which for the most part were random things。 Specifically, I used to enjoy drawing objects or people who were intertwined together in detailed worlds congested by the perimeter of the paper。 Thus, each object, or person, had at least one or more activities connected to them in such a way where a viewer could follow some sort of “narrative”, whatever that might entail。Fast-forward many y When I was a child, I used to draw from time to time whatever sprung out of my imagination on a piece of paper, which for the most part were random things。 Specifically, I used to enjoy drawing objects or people who were intertwined together in detailed worlds congested by the perimeter of the paper。 Thus, each object, or person, had at least one or more activities connected to them in such a way where a viewer could follow some sort of “narrative”, whatever that might entail。Fast-forward many years later when I stumbled upon Where's Wally? The Totally Essential Travel Collection at an airport。 Where’s Wally? (or Waldo in the US) is a children's puzzle book involving a series of detailed illustrations depicting huge crowds of people doing a variety of humorous activities at various locations, and readers are tested to see if they could spot Wally who is cleverly concealed somewhere in the illustration。 The Totally Essential Travel Collection consists of all seven main Where’s Wally? books in a handy travel-sized edition。 As a result, this edition is suitable for travelling (car, bus, train, etc。) or when you are idling somewhere (airport, train station, etc。) since the original books are much bigger in size which would make them inconvenient in such environments。The fantastic part about the entire concept of Where’s Wally? is that it is exactly how I used to draw as a child, except that it far exceeds my drawing skills as a child, and even as an adult。 The level of detail, as in the amount of stuff crammed into a single illustration, is mindboggling; perhaps even “perfect” for anyone who has obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)。 The artwork is also mesmerising to look at and you do feel transported into different, enchanting worlds and adventures with each page you turn。 Now, the first books are less crammed with stuff than the latter ones though, thus the difficulty does ramp up with each subsequent book/illustration (some puzzles you will fail to solve in your first attempts), but that does not diminish the hours of fun someone can have to solve these intriguing puzzles。 This edition also comes with bonus content consisting of six postcards。Where's Wally? The Totally Essential Travel is a must-have for any Wally fan or anyone looking to be kept entertained and stimulated for hours, regardless of your age。 This travel-sized edition is perfect and much cheaper, and convenient to carry around, than owning the original books separately; although the nice thing about the original books is that the illustrations are printed on bigger-sized paper。 Thankfully, the illustrations are still very clear in this edition, so you do not have to worry about them being too small to view, but I do recommend wearing glasses if your eyesight is not perfect, just in case。 。。。more

I borrowed this from my local library and was horrified to find someone had circled all the characters。 Surely there's a special place in hell for these people。 But luckily the circling disappeared within a few pages as it became more difficult。 It was a real challenge and I am not too proud to admit I failed in some of later puzzles。 I find these books very relaxing but this is the first I've found difficult。 Brilliant! I really love Where’s Wally? Although I never had all the books in my collection, I grew up with them and loved searching for all the hidden extras you could find。 Now, to celebrate 30 years of Where’s Wally, seven great books have been packed into this handy travel sized set which is perfect for those who either didn’t have all the books already or just want to keep them all in one place! The book is about A5 in size with semi-hardback covers and a material elastic band that can close the entire book so nothing spills out if you do take this book on your travels。Inside the front and back covers (slotted into a gap in the covers) there are some postcards you can to colour in, six in total, which feature a section of a random Where’s Wally scenes。 The postcards are great and nicely detailed so will take some time (but not too much time) to colour in。 The postcards are also thick which means pens will work as well as pencils for colouring in but what’s fun is that they also feature a short checklist of a few things to find on the front of the post card itself, which can be fun for both the person colouring in the postcard to find and the person receiving it!The seven books inside this travel collection are: Where’s Wally?, Where’s Wally Now?, Where’s Wally? The Fantastic Journey, Where’s Wally? In Hollywood, Where’s Wally? The Wonder Book, The Great Picture Hunt and Where’s Wally? The Incredible Paper Chase。 All seven books are in this travel collection complete and I’m amazed at how they all fit in together but it’s cleverly done。 Each book has an extra folded page at the start which unfolds to show a checklist of things to find in each scene。 This is only half the checklist you usually find in a Where’s Wally book so the other half of the checklist is folded on the last page of the book。 I’ve shown photos of how this is done。 The folded pages are easy to spot in the book and basically mark where each book begins so it’s easy to find。Each page of a Where’s Wally book is of course smaller than the original books but are nice glossy and quite thick pages with clear and colourful images。 I have good near vision so I didn’t have any trouble spotting even the smallest of objects however I will warn you that if you don’t want to strain your eyes it might be harder for some to spot the little things such as Woof’s bone, a key, etc。 The checklist text may also be a little too small for some people to read。I love this travel collection as I never had every Where’s Wally book in my collection。 There are so many amazing pages to look at and I just love the way that just one Where’s Wally page can keep you looking for hours as there’s so many funny things happening in ever corner of each page!I’d definitely recommend this to any Where’s Wally fan, but also to those who have never tried the books before。 The full price of ten UK pounds for seven books is amazing considering how much each book costs individually and the added bonus of the six postcards plus having all the books in one place makes this a great buy for everyone。 -Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy。 。。。more

Great little book, I was worried that the illustrations would be too small but was pleasently surprised when arrived。 I like that the list to find in each books pulls out so you can see that while looking saves flicking back and forwards。

This is by far my favorite Waldo edition! All seven books are bound in this travel sized book, perfect for long car rides, waiting in lines or air plane rides。 Unlike Where's Waldo? All seven books are bound in this travel sized book, perfect for long car rides, waiting in lines or air plane rides。 Unlike Where's Waldo? The Magnificent Mini Boxed Set, the adventures aren't too small that you'd need assistance finding Waldo。 Unfortunately, I still struggle with World of Waldos, Waldo: The Musical and World of Woofs。 Those are easily the most difficult adventures to locate Waldo。 Other things I love about this edition:1。 The elastic bookmaker - This is one thing I wish the other editions had, but since this book is smaller, it works better in this format。 2。 The sturdy, bendable cover - I love how this cover feels like a cross between a hardcover and paperback book。 It could survive the love of a few kids and still maintain its practicality for flipping through the adventures。 3。 Checklists: I was happy to see that the flip-out checklists were also included in this edition。 The only thing is that the checklists only appear at the first adventure for each book。 So, you'll have to flip back and forth to check off the found characters/items as you search。 This works out better than having the checklists on each page。 Otherwise, it would be too bulky。 Overall, if you are a Waldo fan, this edition is a must have。 I was provided a copy from the publisher for review via YABC。 。。。more
